Because reading is a right, not a privilege.

Our Mission

The Lucy Project advocates for children who struggle to read and provides full and fair access to evidence-based literacy intervention. We envision a future where all children read. Children with learning differences need individualized, specialist support. Students simply are not getting the resources and human power to make this happen.

The Lucy Project was created to help support struggling students. By offering free in-school programs and affordable out-of-school remediation with highly-trained educators, we are committed to making literacy accessible to all.

We Honor the Individual

Children deserve reading remediation to meet their unique needs. We take the time to get to know each child and design an individualized plan.

We Deliver Excellence To All

Each child we serve receives the same level of high quality, commitment, and care regardless of financial circumstances. Because reading is a right, not a privilege.

We Are Fully Transparent

Our financials are an open book. Our lessons are recorded and shared with parents upon request. We actively include families in the entire journey.

Our story began with Lucy

AND IT CAN BECOME THE STORY OF THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN IN MIAMI- DADE COUNTY.

Lucy has dyslexia. But that doesn’t stop her from excelling in school.

Lucy’s parents had the honor of adopting her when she was three months old. She quickly became the joyful center of their world. When Lucy started school, she found she wasn’t able to learn as quickly as her peers.

At seven years old, Lucy was diagnosed with several learning disabilities. Some said she might never read well. Lucy’s parents knew they had to fight to find a way to help their daughter. And they did...tirelessly.

Thanks to an evidence-based, systematic, explicit, and multisensory approach to learning and to Lucy’s hard work, she is now in 8th grade reading at an 11th-grade level.

Our Leadership Team

The literacy crisis seems overwhelming. It’s hard to even know where to start to help children who need it the most. We are parents and educators who have been where you are now.

We did the research and developed a robust network of educators, advocates, and parents to lead our mission of getting resources into the hands of those who need them.
