Sandra Bermudez
Founder & CEO
Sandra Bermudez is the Founder and Executive Director of The Lucy Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming literacy outcomes for children through evidence-based instruction and educator training. Inspired by her daughter Lucy's journey with dyslexia, Sandra has led the organization with a vision to create lasting, systemic change in literacy education.
She holds Master's degrees from New York University and Teachers College, Columbia University, and brings more than 20 years of senior management experience across organizational leadership, strategic partnerships, and team development. Under her leadership, The Lucy Project has grown from an idea into a recognized force advancing educational equity and expanding access to the Science of Reading throughout South Florida.
This year, Sandra was selected to join more than 70 nonprofit leaders from across the Americas at the American Express Leadership Academy in New York, in partnership with Common Purpose, recognizing her commitment to purpose-driven leadership and social impact.
Sandra remains deeply committed to building sustainable organizations, cultivating meaningful partnerships, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to become a confident reader.
