BCBA Behavior Consultant

Miami, FL | Flexible

The Lucy Project (TLP) is a literacy organization with deep expertise in evidence-based Structured Literacy instruction. Our Learning Specialists teach children to read, and we run additional programs for the same children. Many of the children we serve have complex needs, including trauma exposure, emotional and behavioral dysregulation, autism spectrum disorder, and other developmental and learning disabilities.

We are seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to bring specialized behavior expertise to our team: visiting our program sites, giving feedback, and training staff in evidence-based, trauma-informed, function-based behavior support. This is an independent contractor role that starts with a paid half-day training session for our full team and grows from there.

The work

  • Visit TLP program sites and observe how children and staff handle behavior during instruction and activities.

  • After each visit, give Learning Specialists and program leaders specific feedback: what is working and what to change.

  • Train the team on trauma and behavior: what drives a child's behavior, how to de-escalate, how to respond with respect, and routines that prevent problems before they start.

  • Lead training sessions for the full team at the TLP office.

  • Return for follow-up visits to help staff put the training into practice.

What you bring

  • Current BCBA or BCBA-D certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.

  • Hands-on experience supporting children in classroom or group settings.

  • Training and experience in trauma-informed practice with children.

  • Experience training staff, such as teachers, instructors, or program teams.

  • Preferred: experience with elementary-age children, and Spanish.

How it works

  • Independent contractor (1099); you set your own schedule around program hours.

  • Starts with a paid half-day training session for our full team. Additional visits and training days follow as needed.

  • Paid at your hourly or daily rate, invoiced monthly.

  • Travel between program sites across Miami-Dade County.

  • Before starting: Level 2 background screening with fingerprinting, proof of professional liability insurance, and a W-9.
